The Origins of the Alumni Association
From the ACTA (MDUHS's yearbook) of 1914
The Alumni Association was organized in July 1906, at the request of the class of June 1905.  During the eight years of its existence it has proved itself an active and helpful organization.  Up to the year 1912, its work was purely along social lines.  Annual meetings were held to rekindle school spirit and loyalty.  At a meeting of the Alumni in 1912, it was decided to take up some definite work that would be a real benefit to the students of the High School.  It was decided to award a scholarship prize of $50.00 to the students of 1913 who upon enrolling in the High School of that August, had the best scholarship record for the first three years of the High School course.  The scholarship prize was awarded to Miss Carmen Aravena.  At the same time that the scholarship was offered, a gold medal was offered and awarded in May 1913 to the graduate of that time who had the best scholarship record during the senior year  Miss Ruth Boyd received this medal.

In August of 1913, the Alumni Association presented to the school three beautiful electric chandeliers for the new Assembly Hall.

Each year since 1912 the Alumni Association has given an annual ball.  Among the guests have been the Faculty and students of the seven High schools of the county.  The Alumni Ball of the present year was held on April 17, in the dining room of the Concord Inn.

The Faculty and students wish to express their sincere thanks to the members of the Alumni for the enthusiasm they have taken in their school.
