Who Was Pete Kramer?
Coach Pete Kramer was known as "an excellent coach, a friend of all the boys, and a man to be admired.

He came to teach physical education and to coach at Mt. Diablo High School in 1925.  He became a dean in 1948 and retired in 1964.

He was a great influence on young people, teachers, and coaches.  He impressed students and the community with the motto,

                        VICTORY WITH HONOR

Mt. Diablo High School's 1944 yearbook is dedicated to Coach Kramer, ".....in recognition of his years of efficient and loyal service."

The dedication goes on to say, "He is molding the boys of today into the men of tomorrow, thus helping to make tomorrow's world a cleaner and healthier place where fair play, consideration, and good sportsmanship will predominate.  To do this, he has stressed the honesty and decency of the game and has not overemphasized the desperate importance of winning.  In our boys of the present he builds moral character and physical strength; he guides well the men of the future."

The school's new gym, built in 1950, was named for Pete Kramer.
