District praises Diel

It was in the summer of 1951 that Dr. Ferd Diel came to the Mt. Diablo Unified School District to serve as principal of Mt. Diablo High School. He brought with him a wealth of experience from the Oakland School system. Little did we know at that time how fortunate we were to have "stolen" this outstanding administrator for our district.

Dr. Diel has worked tirelessly for the students and faculty of Mt. Diablo High. Those teachers and community people who have been in the Diablo area for a number of years are well aware of the new buildings acquired through his efforts. They are also very cognizant of the many program modifications and improvements made under his leadership. The spirit of the students and their loyalty to their school has flourished under his leadership.

Those of us who have had the privilege of working closely with Ferd Diel have come to respect him highly as an educator. He is a man of sound principles and willing to "stand by his guns" in support of his convictions. He has "done battle" with many of us at the District level in his efforts to satisfy the needs of Diablo students.

We wish for Dr. Diel many years of good hunting, happiness, and personal satisfaction in retirement. He will be sorely missed by many as a fine educator and a treasured friend.
