Ethel Brubaker left Mt. Diablo High School as a graduate in 1927, but like so many Red Devils after her, she could not stay away for long.
After attending the University of California, she returned to  Mt. Diablo High School in 1936 to work as the librarian, who, according to the Concord Historical Society's "History of Concord - Its Progress and Promise," pg. 161, "was a constant helping hand."
Miss Brubaker also served as a music teacher during her tenure at MDHS.
The library, which was built during the building project of 1963-1964, was eventually named Ethel Brubaker Library in honor of the loyal alumna who served her school so well and for so many years.  Ms. Brubaker was in attendance at the 1980 naming ceremony in the library.
